Ennush: “I don't want my clients to carry my name. I want them to carry a story.”
Last week, at L'Appart, I met Sarah, founder of Énnush , an independent fashion brand that is part of a new generation of contemporary labels: limited production, local manufacturing, and a strong vision of modern femininity.
In a global market dominated by major fashion houses and accelerated ready-to-wear cycles, Ennush adopts a more controlled model — based on intention, storytelling and responsibility.
The name as a brand strategy
Unlike many designers who put their own name on their brand, Sarah made a structured choice.
"Why would I want my clients to bear my name?" she confided in me.
"I wanted something more intimate."
Ennush is named after his little sister, Inès.
"I wanted to dedicate something powerful, lasting, and meaningful to him."
In an international context where authenticity is becoming a strategic lever, this positioning goes beyond simple storytelling. It situates the brand within a strong emotional logic, running counter to branding centered on the founder's personality.
The brand is not based on ego, but on a value: resilience.
From finance to fashion: a deliberate entrepreneurial pivot
Before launching her independent brand, Sarah worked in finance in London, within a private asset management company.
"I worked from Monday to Sunday, starting at 6 a.m. The environment was very demanding, very masculine. And I wasn't happy."
Then comes the breakup.
"One morning, I woke up and decided to resign."
This career shift is part of a broader trend: highly qualified professionals leaving traditional sectors to invest in the creative industry with a more structured and strategic approach to the fashion business.
Leaving London to return to Turkey and launch Ennush m was a calculated — but necessary risk.
Limited production and local manufacturing: a responsible model
At a time when responsible fashion and sustainability are redefining the expectations of international consumers, Ennush is adopting a clear strategy: limited production quantities and direct control of manufacturing.
The showroom is located close to the workshop, allowing for precise monitoring of each step: selection of natural materials such as silk and cotton, supervision of volumes, adjustment of silhouettes.
Production is sometimes limited to just ten pieces per model.
"I don't want to mass-produce or leave an excessive carbon footprint."
Some customers can also order custom-made versions, reinforcing exclusivity and reducing waste.
This hybrid model — between limited ready-to-wear and an almost artisanal approach — positions Ennush in a growing segment: that of premium independent brands with responsible production.
Redefining modern femininity
Beyond the economic model, Ennush is based on a clear vision of contemporary femininity.
"I create for a woman who doesn't need external validation. A woman who wants to be proud of herself."
During fittings, Sarah systematically asks two questions:
"Do you feel beautiful?"
"Do you feel comfortable?"
She clarifies:
"If you constantly have to adjust your dress, that's not freedom. Yes, we want to be sexy. But we don't want to suffer."
This approach reflects a major cultural shift: the end of the compromise between sensuality and comfort. The new generation of consumers seeks clothing that can support movement, independence, and everyday performance.
A young brand, a long-term vision
After three years in existence, Énnush remains an emerging brand. But its founder adopts a long-term vision.
"It's like having a baby. It's demanding, sometimes stressful. But it's not a job—it's a passion."
In a saturated international landscape, independent brands capable of articulating a strong identity, controlled production and a coherent discourse on modern femininity are gaining relevance.
Ennush is not seeking rapid growth.
She is building a trajectory.
This meeting highlights a contemporary entrepreneurial model: an independent creator who combines strategy, responsibility and cultural vision.
And in the global fashion economy, this combination becomes a competitive advantage.
